During his oral arguments in August, Mr. Cohen admitted that he had paid $US 130,000 to an adult film actress, Stephanie Clifford, better known as Stormy Daniels, to keep her in silence from an affair she had with Mr. Trump. He`s due to be sentenced in two weeks. It is not known how much additional time he could be charged with guilt. COHEN, 51, of NEW YORK, NEW YORK, pleaded guilty to five counts of wilful tax evasion; A number of false statements to a bank; a charge of causing an illegal contribution to the election campaign; and a tally, an excessive contribution to the election campaign. Cohen allegedly assisted in an agreement between McDougal and American Media Inc. in August 2016. The deal was not for the tabloid to publish his story, but to pay to cover it up: McDougal sold the rights for $150,000 and the promise that he would publish some of his fitness columns in exchange for his silence on the alleged case. (The Wall Street Journal reported the agreement between McDougal and AMI in November 2016.
In April 2018, McDougal successfully filed a complaint to withdraw from the agreement.) Mr. Trump accused his former fixer of lying to get a reduced sentence for the crimes for which he pleaded guilty. In his previous argument, Mr. Cohen was imprisoned for between four and five years. FBI Deputy Director William F. Sweeney Jr. said: “This investigation has revealed crimes of fraud, deception and tax evasion by a series of carefully constructed and concealed financial transactions to protect a wide range of interests. But as we all know, the truth can only remain hidden for so long before the FBI blows it up. We are all expected to follow the rule of law, and public opinion expects us – the FBI – to have the same law.
Today, Mr. Cohen was reminded of this important lesson, as he acknowledged by his guilty plea. Michael Cohen`s relationship with President Trump came out: “I will do everything in my power to protect Mr. Trump. You say I`m Mr. Trump`s Pit Bull. I supported him, shoulder to shoulder. “He`s a weak man. So why did Trump`s former personal lawyer tip over? Cohen was Trump`s fixer and the biggest advocate for more than a decade. “If there`s one thing that`s referring to Mr. Trump that worries him, it`s obviously a concern for me. And I will use my legal powers to protect Mr. Trump as best I can. In April, F.B.I. Cohen`s office was attacked after being the target of special counsel Robert Mueller`s investigation.
Trump quickly came to Cohen`s defense. But when the investigation was conducted on Cohen, the lawyer began to change his mood. “My wife, daughter and son have my first loyalty and always will. I put family and land first. In July, Cohen released Audio from a conversation with Donald Trump that he secretly recorded two months before the 2016 election.
