During his oral arguments in August, Mr. Cohen admitted that he had paid $US 130,000 to an adult film actress, Stephanie Clifford, better known as Stormy Daniels, to keep her in silence from an affair she had with Mr. Trump. He`s due to be sentenced in two weeks. It is not known how much additional time he could be charged with guilt. COHEN, 51, of NEW YORK, NEW YORK, pleaded guilty to five counts of wilful tax evasion; A number of false statements to a bank; a charge of causing an illegal contribution to the election campaign; and a tally, an excessive contribution to the election campaign. Cohen allegedly assisted in an agreement between McDougal and American Media Inc. in August 2016. In April 2018, McDougal successfully filed a complaint to withdraw from the agreement.) Mr. Trump accused his former fixer of lying to get a reduced sentence for the crimes for which he pleaded guilty. In his previous argument, Mr. Cohen was imprisoned for between four and five years. FBI Deputy Director William F. Sweeney Jr. said: “This investigation has revealed crimes of fraud, deception and tax evasion by a series of carefully constructed and concealed financial transactions to protect a wide range of interests. But as we all know, the truth can only remain hidden for so long before the FBI blows it up. We are all expected to follow the rule of law, and public opinion expects us – the FBI – to have the same law.
